AdmissionNational Taitung University Enrollment Policy

 

Based on the policies of admissions for Students upon Application, admissions from Entrance Examinations, National Taitung University Postgraduate School Enrollment Policy, admissions for Recommended Students, and admissions for Gifted and Talented students, students can apply for admission through the following:

 

1. Admission for undergraduate program

Admission on recommended students and admission on application:

Admission on recommended students and admission on application account for 25%~30% of total undergraduate enrollment.  The admission process is divided into two stages.  In the first stage, the Coordinating Committee will review the application regulations of respective departments every October, and distribute application forms in November.  Applicants shall apply in early March of the following year, and submit examination grade reports to the Coordinating Committee. The screening process will proceed according to the criteria set up by each department.  Applicants who have passed the screening can then enter the second stage of the admission process in Taitung University in April to be tested in certain subjects.  Finally, applicants who meet the criteria will be admitted to the university.

Entrance Exam Placement:

Entrance Exam Placement accounts for 65%~70% of the total undergraduate enrollment. The University Admission Committee reviews the application regulations of respective departments every October, and distributes application forms in November.  Applicants shall take the Entrance Exam on designated subjects organized by the College Entrance Examination Center in July of the following year, and shall submit their preferences for both majors and universities to the College Entrance Examination Center for later placement.  Admission to the university is decided according to applicant’s preference of majors and his/her grade report of the Entrance Exam.

Admission on other forms of recommendation:

Vocational students recommendation and distinguished athletes recommendation  account for 0.03%~0.05% of total undergraduate enrollment. Admission by recommendation includes indigenous students, offshore islands students, vocational students, distinguished athletes, mentally and physically handicapped students, and overseas Chinese students.  The Ministry of Education will set up a committee for joint placement of different universities and will choose a university in Taiwan to handle the placement process.  National Taitung University will then provide admission quota and application forms to the committee.  Applicants are admitted by their grade report of the Entrance Exam and the admission quota provided by different universities.

2. Admission for Master’s and Ph.D. program

Applicants will be admitted to Master’s or Ph.D. program through the following ways:

Recommendation for admission toward Master’s Degree:

Recommendation for admission accounts for 15%~20% of the total graduate enrollment.  The admission process is divided into two stages.  In the first stage, the registration division will review the application regulations of respective departments every September and distribute application forms in late October.  Applicants shall apply in mid-November.  The screening process will proceed by following the criteria set up by the Admission Committee.  Applicants who have passed the screening can then enter the second stage of the admission process for interviews in December.  The Admission Committee will then make the final decision.

Entrance Exam to Graduate Programs:  

The Entrance Exam to graduate programs accounts for 80%~85% of total graduate enrollment.  The admission process is divided into two stages.  In the first stage, the registration division will review the application regulations of respective departments every December and distribute application forms in late February.  Applicants shall apply in mid-April, and take written examinations in early May.  Applicants who have passed the written exams can then enter the second stage of the admissions process for interviews in late May.  The Admission Committee will make a final decision based on the applicant’s performance of both written examinations and interviews
